Concert - Diego Ares

A Diego Ares concert at St. Cecilia’s Hall will be closing this year’s Harpsichord en fête! festival. See you next year at the 3rd edition! If you are not yet a member of the Institut français d'Ecosse, we invite you to join. Already a member? Book your place early!

About Diego Ares:
Diego Ares studied piano with Aleksandras Jurgelionis and Aldona Dvarionaitė. At the age of fourteen Pilar Cancio introduced him to the harpsichord. In 2002 he moved to Holland to work with Richard Egarr. Between 2004 and 2010 he studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He perfected his technique with harpsichordists Carmen Schibli (disciple of Eta Harich-Schneider) and Genoveva Gálvez.

Ares has given recitals in Europe, Canada and Japan. He has recorded for Columna Música, Pan Classics and Harmonia Mundi. His recordings have received such awards as the Diapason d'Or (three times), “Choc” from Classica, “Maestro” from Pianiste, “Excepcional” from Scherzo, and the “Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik”. His most recent recording, Bach’s monumental Goldberg Variations, has been considered by several publications a substantial contribution to the work’s large discography (Scherzo, Qobuz, CdClassico.com, etc.).

Diego Ares has taught harpsichord, fortepiano and Basso Continuo at the Hochschule der Musik in Trossingen (Germany). Diego Ares teaches harpsichord at Geneva’s Conservatoire de Musique.
