Animation [Fête du cinéma d'animation]

In October, France is celebrating its animation cinema with a month-long festival. Did you know that France is the third most profilic producer of animation films in the world? Or that it’s pioneer, Émile Reynaud was a Frenchman?

Every year, in October, as a tribute to Émile Reynaud, a celebration a France’s lesser known film industry is organize. It is scheduled ahead of 28 October, International Animation Day, which commemorates the first public performance of Charles-Émile Reynaud’s Théâtre Optique at the Grevin Museum in 1892.

The Institut français d'Écosse is taking part in this 16th edition of the festival from the 19th to the 27th of October with different styles of animation for all ages.

The programme includes;

Le Roman de Renard (1937 | L. Starewitch | 65 mins)

La Planète sauvage (1973 | R. Laloux | 90 mins)

Talk & Film: Page to Screen (duration: 60 mins approx.)

Le Roi et l'oiseau (1978 | P. Grimault | 87 mins)

Louise en hiver (2016 | J.F. Laguionie | 75 mins)

La Fête du cinéma d'animation is coordinated by AFCA, ASIFA and supported by Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée, Copie privée, SACD, Région Ile-de-France, Mairie de Paris, Service Civique.
