Ciné-récré: Le Grand méchant renard et autres contes ...

Ciné-récré is our cinéma programme for younger children and their families. We’ll be screening a family-friendly film one Friday a month at 2:00pm (exact dates forthcoming). These events are free, but for members only. We invite you to book early and if you are not yet a member of the Institut français d'Ecosse, we invite you to join. For our first Ciné-récré of the 2018-2019 season, we will be screening Le Grand méchant renard et autres contes … by Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert (2016, 1h19min).

Synopsis:
Those who think that the countryside is a calm and peaceful place are mistaken, for it is full of particularly agitated animals: a Fox who thinks he’s a hen, a Rabbit who acts like a stork, and a Duck who wants to take over for Santa Claus. If you want to take some holiday, best to go elsewhere…

Synopsis:
François Foucault, in his forties, is a professeur agrégé de lettres—a highly skilled and trained teacher—at the lycée Henri IV in Paris. A series of events forces him to accept a year-long transfer to a middle school in the banlieue, which has been categorised as an underprivileged and underachieving school (REP, or Réseau d'éducation prioritaire). He dreads the worst. And rightly so.

Synopsis:
Armand and Leila, students at Science Po in Paris, are a young couple. But when Leila’s older brother Mahmoud comes back from living in Yemen where he was radically transformed, he is opposed to his sister’s romantic relationship and decides to keep her away from Armand at all costs. In order to get inside Mahmoud’s flat and see Leila again, Armand has no choice but to don a Burka and pose as Leila’s religious tutor.

Fatima lives alone with her two teenage daughters. She has difficulties mastering French and is frustrated by this in her daily interactions with them… This film garnered much attention at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes in 2015 and went on to win the Prix Louis Delluc, the 2016 Césars for best film and best adaptation, as well as bringing Zita Hanrot the César for most promising actress
