Exhibition Launch: Near and Far. Art and stories by Marie-Alice Harel.

Join author and illustrator Marie-Alice Harel for the opening of her exhibition at the Institut.

She will talk about her process, the inspirations behind her stories and how her books came to be published. Both English and French editions will be available during the event. Marie-Alice will be delighted to answer your questions and sign copies of her books.

About Marie-Alice Harel
Marie-Alice Harel is a French author and illustrator based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was a Geosciences PhD and researcher before becoming a full time illustrator in 2016. She hasn’t looked back since and now dedicates her time and energy to develop ideas and challenge herself with new projects. Her watercolours can be found in books, picture books, galleries and magazines. She also creates artist books, another playful way to combine images and stories. Her self-published work is signed MÄ Harel. Marie-Alice joined the Edinburgh Drawing School in 2018, where she currently teaches life drawing and illustration. She also loves to work with museums and galleries to design workshops around exhibitions or permanent collections. Recent workshop at the Queen’s Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, for the exhibition ‘Charles II: Art & Power’ (Feb 2019).
