About 4 Times Baroque:
4 Times Baroque was founded in 2013 by the four young musicians Jan Nigges (recorder), Jonas Zschenderlein (violin), Karl Simko (cello) and Alexander von Heißen (harpsichord).

Based in Frankfurt (Main), the quartet is one of the most exciting ensembles of the new generation of early music performers and has already been invited to appear at major festivals throughout Germany and Europe. The quartet is dedicated to developing a close rapport with their audience, and not only through their musical performances: entertaining concert talks and discussions are designed to provide musical and historical backgrounds to their programmes, and allow the public to stay up to date with the ensemble’s work. The musicians’ close friendship has carried over into their still-developing professional careers, and their unique rapport is palpable on stage and in their playing.

The FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) described a concert at the Rheingau Musikfestival as a “fresh, energetic and thrilling performance,” the Schwäbische Post went so far as to call them “popstars” and “four young shooting stars.” In 2013, 4 Times Baroque won the audience prize at the international Marini competition in Neuburg. Following this, they produced their first CD, including works by Arcangelo Corelli to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the great composer’s death. In 2014 the quartet was invited to give their first radio broadcast at the SWR as part of the Rhein Vokal festival and the SWR2 Kulturnacht. The 2015-17 seasons included engagements at festivals such as the Rheingau Musikfestival, Thüringer Bachwochen, Festival d‘Ambronay and the Meraner Musikwochen. In March 2018 4 Times Baroque released their first album, “Caught in Italian Virtuosity”, for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi/Sony. In March 2019 they appeared as guests on German television’s arts programme “Stars von Morgen”. As part of the Eeemerging program (Emerging European Ensembles), the quartet receives support from several early music centres throughout Europe. Upcoming concerts and residencies have been organised in France, Poland, Latvia, Germany and Italy.
